Race Night

A great night at the Volunteer Arms on Saturday night for our race night.

A massive thanks to all who contributed with us raising £765, which will help us to continue to deliver sport ad wellbeing activities throughout Calderdale.

Pictured is Nicky Slingsby, who is secretary of the Halifax wheelchair team who’s won the auction race alongside the syndicate with CCCT trustee Malcolm Kielty MBE handing over their £90 winnings.

A massive thanks to all who sponsored our races, Grosvenors Butchers, from the borough market, The Happy Dog House UK, The Kielty family, The Halifax Wheelchair rugby team, The Volunteer Arms, Copley, Robert Wade Cars and Michael & Glenda Steele.

Thanks to all who donated prized for our raffle, which raised £150 towards our total. Thanks also to Chris & Lewis who worked tirelessly behind the bar.

A final thanks to all who attended, which without you, the event would not happen.

Back Onside

Our latest programme has now started. ‘Back Onside’ is a men’s health and wellbeing session where we encourage men over the age of 30 to re-engage with sport and activity. The sessions are every Monday evening at 3GI Soccer starting at 6.30pm. The cost is £3 per session.

Activities such as football, both running and walking, touch and tag rugby and dodgeball are played, all in a fun and relaxed environment.

The sessions are run by Damian Gibson, the former Halifax RLFC star who is now a personal trainer and mental health awareness tutor.

Please follow instructions for booking details.

Our latest Heritage lunch club is again being held at Halifax Bowling Club, Thrum Hall on Monday 14th March, 11am til 1.30pm.

This weeks guest is former Fax star forward, Brendan Hill. Brendan will be interviewed about his fax career as well as his other clubs, including Leeds & Bradford. Entry is £4.00 which includes a 2 course meal of pie & peas with dessert.

We are also hosting a new event on the 31st March. This is ‘an evening with’ where another former Fax star, Jim Gannon will be the guest. No food will be served at this event which will be held at the Old Rishworthian RU club in Copley Village. The bar will be open and there is plenty of parking available. Entry is FREE for this event, although there will be a collection bucket on entry for any donations for the CCCT charity.

Heritage Lunch Club – Pete Emmett

Yet another great afternoon at the Halifax Bowling Club for our latest Heritage Lunch Club.

Guest, Pete Emmett kept the 57 people who attended entertained for a couple of hours. This was our best attended event yet but I think Brendan Hill had a bit to do with it.

Pictured below Is Pete, Ian Buckley, our fantastic interviewer and Kevin Mitchell, who drew a picture of Pete and presented it to him.

Also must say a massive thanks to David the doorman, who sit on the front desk every month. Without volunteers like Ian and David, these events would not be able to go ahead. Also a thanks to all members of the Halifax Bowling club who set up and help on the day.
