Halifax Charity Gala

We again attended the 2022 Halifax Charity Gala on Saturday at Manor Heath.

We were joined on our stall by the Halifax Panthers Wheelchair team and the Disability Partnership, Calderdale.

Our stall had various activities on as you will see on the pictures below.

On the picture is the Mayor of Calderdale and the 2022 Gala Queen, who both tried their luck on winning either a meat voucher from Grosvenors Butchers in the Halifax Borough Market and a family ticket for a Halifax panthers game at the Shay.

Adult Weight Management

Our Adult Weight management programme is now running at the Shay Stadium every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm. The programme is free due to funding from the Community Foundation For Calderdale and their Adult Weight Management funding.

We have had 24 registered so far who have enjoyed a fund and relaxed programme of advise and exercise led by former Halifax RLFC star, Damian Gibson and former Better Living Team member Zain Ghani.

Each person has the opportunity to get weighed at every session they attend and the team also work through each persons food diary for the previous week, with information given to improve their diet in line with their attempts to lose weight.

The sessions are based on circuit type sessions with both individual work outs and also working in teams.

Pictured above are our group from week 3 after they have completed their workout.

Damian Gibson says “the group have bonded well so far and always look out for each other during the session, in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Nobody gets judged on their ability to participate, we are just like one happy family which is nice to see”

Chris Mitchell, programme lead says” I have joined in with the programme as well and find it as a real benefit to have a group environment in which to exercise as you don’t want to let your ‘mates’ down. I have lost just over a kilo in the 2 weeks so looking forward to meeting my 12 week target.
